New Puzzle card launches from Australia’s Mystery Unfolds

Perth, Western Australia-based puzzle creators, Mystery Unfolds, are looking for puzzle enthusiasts to help us test a new puzzle card, Escape the Swedish Furniture Store, before its public release.

What is a Puzzle Card?

A puzzle card is an escape room experience in a birthday card. The recipient doesn’t get their gift until they’ve solved the mystery within. A puzzle card can add a new dynamic to gifting, or simply be experienced as a fun, standalone puzzle. They can be solved alone for a challenge or for fun with friends.

Mystery Unfolds has been making puzzle experiences since 2020. Help us deliver the best experience we can by testing our cards.

 Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What’s a puzzle card?
A puzzle card is an escape room experience in a birthday card. The recipient doesn’t get their birthday gift until they’ve solved the puzzle within.

  2. A “prototype”? Does that mean it won’t look that nice?
All finished puzzle card designs are hand-drawn and printed onto recycled paper so there’s always the occasional smudge, fleck, or hair-thin line out of place, but you can be damn sure they look nice. Our prototype cards, are about 90% the quality of the finished product and post-testing will go through a few additional alignment and linework tweaks. They still look great though, if we do say so.

  3. Do I need to gift this as a birthday card?
You certainly do not. While it does heighten the stakes to receive a puzzle card and be told you won’t get your birthday gift until you’ve solved the puzzle, this card can be experienced on its own as a fun stand-alone puzzle.

  4. Can I also have one of your other puzzle cards for free?
No, you cannot. But thanks for asking. 😉

  5. What age range is this card most suitable for?
This card will be most enjoyed by those who can read basic English, and follow cryptic instructions. It does not contain any violent, graphic, or sexual content. Based on the difficulty, we’d say 8+ but if you’re unsure if it’s appropriate for a younger person, request one anyway, then participate in our follow-up survey so that you can help us better define the age-appropriateness of this card in the future.

  6. When will my card be delivered?
Emailing of digital copies and shipping of physical copies will all happen sometime in August, 2024.
