Test our Prototype & get a free Escape Room in a Father’s Day card

Perth-based puzzle creators, Mystery Unfolds, are looking for puzzle enthusiasts to help test our new puzzle card, Taken Father, before its public release. We’re giving away 50 of them to interested puzzle lovers.

What is a Puzzle Card?

A puzzle card is an escape room experience in a birthday (or in this case, Father’s Day) card. The recipient doesn’t get their gift until they’ve solved the mystery within. A puzzle card can add a new dynamic to gifting, or simply be experienced as a fun, standalone puzzle. They can be solved alone for a challenge or for fun with friends.

Mystery Unfolds has been making puzzle experiences since 2020. Help us deliver the best experience we can by providing feedback on our newest card.

NEW Prototype Puzzle Card: Taken Father

Difficulty: Medium (probably)

Taken Father is an ideal gift for a fan of puzzles, puns, Dad jokes, Liam Neeson films and ancient secret societies.

“You still remember the first day you became a father - the ultimate responsibility for another’s life placed upon your shoulders.

Only days later, while still contemplating this existential juncture, you were walking to the shop for eggs, and a burlap sack was also placed upon your shoulders… over your face. Dragged into a van and drugged, you awoke hours later in a sterile-looking testing facility.

Taken Father is suitable for someone who:

  • is competent in English

  • likes a moderate challenge

  • enjoys a good pun

  • is ideally, but not necessarily a father

 Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What’s a puzzle card?
A puzzle card is an escape room experience in a Birthday card (or in this case, a Father’s Day card). The recipient doesn’t get their gift until they’ve solved the puzzle within. The recipient must look for clues in the scene inside, solve a series of puzzles, and then arrive at a final answer.

  2. A “prototype”? Does that mean it won’t look that nice?
All finished puzzle card designs are hand-drawn and printed onto recycled paper so there’s always the occasional crease or line out of place, but you can be confident they’ll look nice. Our prototype cards, are about ~90% the quality of the finished product, and we make sure they look great.

  3. I have multiple people I could gift this to, can I have multiple cards?

Maybe. If you are in need of multiple cards, please leave your request in the comment field provided. Depending on demand, we may not be able to deliver on requests for multiple cards.

  4. Do I need to give this to someone as a gift?
No, you do you not. If you would like to give this card to yourself and enjoy the puzzle-solving experience yourself, then go right ahead and do so.

  5. Can I also have one of your other puzzle cards for free?
No. But you can always buy a card - if you spend more than $30, your standard delivery will be free within Australia.

  6. When will my card be delivered?
If you are selected, I’ll be in touch to confirm an expected delivery date. If you live locally, we’ll hand-deliver your card; otherwise, we’ll ship it. I’ll be aiming to ship by 25th August and to hand-deliver in the following week.

  7. For whatever reason, I need to get the card sooner - is that possible?
Unlikely, but we’ll see what we can do. Fill out the form above and add a note in the comment section of your submission.
