How to Gift a Mystery Unfolds Puzzle Card
A puzzle card is like an escape room experience in a card. Give one to someone for their birthday and tell them they don’t get their present until they solve the mystery within.
The recipient must then solve a series of puzzles before arriving at final answer. They tell you that answer to earn their gift.
We’ll explain what you get in the card, the gifting process, how to best gift each individual card, and other fun gifting ideas.
What you’ll get with the Card
Puzzle card - contains all the clues and hints needed for the recipient to solve the puzzle. On the back is a space to write the answer and a URL to a website to check the solution. There’s also a blank space for you to write a message. e.g. “Happy Birthday Jim - think you’re smart? We’re holding your gift ransom until you can solve this puzzle.”
Insert(s) - Depending on which card you order, you may receive one or two inserts. These will contain contextual information about the puzzle.
Envelope - Just large enough to fit your puzzle card and inserts inside.
Instructions - This is for you to hold onto as the gift giver.
The Simplified Gifting Process
If you’ve bought a card for a friend or family member, here’s what you’ll need to do for them to get the most out of their puzzle card experience:
Remove this instructional insert.
Address the envelope and write a message on the back of the card (if desired).
Place the card and inserts into the included envelope.
Give the envelope to the recipient and tell them they will not get their gift until they solve the mystery inside and tell you the code word.
Use the included walkthrough to follow along with them and give hints OR leave them alone to solve it.
When they give you the code, give them their gift.
Note, there’s no requirement to withhold their gift. You can just gift the card alongside a present, or as a standalone gift itself to be enjoyed as a fun puzzle experience.
